PODIATRIC ACUPUNCTURE
Podiatric Acupuncture is one of a range of treatments that can be provided by your podiatrist. It is often used in conjunction and as a complement to other treatments.
Acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest forms of medicine. It uses needles to give relief of pain.
Research has shown that acupuncture can be effective for up to 80% of people and of those, 20% will have a strong reaction.
Acupuncture is generally extremely safe when practised by someone with the appropriate training. All needles used are individually wrapped and single use.
Needles are used for very short periods of time, 2-10 seconds is usually enough and at different depths according to the patients needs.
Some people will get temporary relief from their first acupuncture session. However some conditions will need a course of 4- 6 treatments of acupuncture,
Sometimes this is enough to resolve the pain permanently though occasionally people need a further treatment every 8-12 weeks to keep them pain free.
